Story Series: The Stranger Who Changed Everything

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 1: 

She smiled and thanked him.

“You’re welcome,” he replied.

His smile was warm, genuine, and unforgettable. For a brief moment, time seemed to stand still. She found herself mesmerized, unable to look away. There was something about him she couldn’t explain.

Before she could say another word, he quietly walked away.

For more than 10 years, she had been a loyal employee. She trained countless new hires, consistently received outstanding performance reviews, and was known as one of the company’s most dependable team members.

Then a new employee—a white male—was hired. She was assigned to train him and was specifically instructed to make sure he learned everything she knew. She did exactly that.

Just two months later, the company announced layoffs.

To her shock, her manager, Becky, informed her that she had been selected.

“I’m sorry,” Becky said. “This wasn’t my decision. It came from the company.”

Just like that, more than a decade of dedication was gone.

Finding another job proved harder than she expected. Weeks turned into months with no success.

Instead of giving up, she decided it was finally time to pursue the dream she had put on hold for years—starting her own modeling agency.

But where should she begin?

“Facebook,” she thought.

She created a Facebook page for her agency and started posting modeling photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes content. Within months, she had gained more than 10,000 followers.

Yet there was one problem.

Not a single person had signed up.

Her savings were disappearing. Bills were piling up. She had the followers—but not the customers.

One afternoon, while talking on the phone about her struggles at a local coffee shop, she noticed a tall, dark, and handsome man sitting a few tables away. He appeared to be focused on his laptop. Every now and then, he glanced in her direction as if he understood exactly how she felt.

As she ended the call, he stood, picked up his coffee, and slowly walked toward her.

“I couldn’t help overhearing your conversation,” he said with a kind smile. “Have you tried WEBUCON?”

She sighed.

“No. I’ve trusted too many companies already. They all promised to help me grow my business… and they all took my money.”

She showed him messages from the latest scam.

He looked at the messages, then back at her.

“I understand why you’re hesitant,” he said. “But don’t send a message. Call WEBUCON. A real person will answer, and they’ll listen.”

She searched his eyes for a moment.

Something about him made her feel safe.

Still skeptical, she dialed the number.

It rang once.

“Thank you for calling WEBUCON. How can we help you today?”

A real person.

As she began speaking with them, she looked back toward the stranger.

He was smiling.

Again, she found herself completely mesmerized by his smile. It wasn’t just handsome—it was reassuring, the kind of smile that made you believe everything was going to be okay.

He gave her a small nod, turned, and began walking away.

“Wait!” she called.

He stopped.

“What… what’s your name?”

For a moment, he didn’t answer.

Then, without turning around, he smiled and softly said,

“You’ll find out soon enough.”

Before she could ask another question, he disappeared into the crowd.

Still holding the phone, she heard the voice from WEBUCON say,

“Before we get started… there’s something important we’d like to show you.”

She slowly lowered the phone and glanced in the direction where the stranger had vanished.

He was gone.

But on the table where he had been sitting…

…was a business card with just three words:

“See you soon.”
